A year and 2 days ago

I have a 1 year old and a 5 year old- holy smokes- where does the time go?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUDAEN!!!!

A year and 2 days ago- January 4, 2010- I awoke to my alarm going off at 4:45 a.m. and really, really had to weigh my choices-
A) get out of bed, shower, and head to the hospital to FINALLY meet our second handsome little man or
B) stay in bed and get some much desired sleep

Choice A won!

Judaen was a scheduled induction- Brasen had come three weeks early so everyone including myself and our dr. thought that we'd for sure have a baby in our arms by as early as December 1st.

WELL.....
  • December 1st came and went- made it through Disney on ice and no baby...
  • December 12th came and went- Grandma Strickler's bday and still no baby...
  • December 19th came and went- mom and I's bday (and as much as mom wanted him born on our birthday) STILL NO BABY....
  • December 24th and 25th came and went- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day- (and I DIDN'T want to be in the hospital at Christmas) so HOORAY still no baby...
  • December 31 came and went- New Years Eve party at church and still no baby :(
  • I was beginning to think I was never going to have this child!!!!!!!!!!!
JANUARY 4th, 2010- Shortly after arriving at the hospital (6:00 a.m) they began the pitocin and contractions began coming pretty strong by about (8:00 a.m.)  Family and Pastor Mark began arriving and I remember not feeling well at all-they came in and gave me the epidural and still no relief.  By 10:30 a.m. I think I'd seen the anesthesiologist three times, something was blocking the meds from allowing any pain relief except to my legs.  After some scary times of losing his heart rate and drops in our blood pressures, oxygen etc. I was finally able to relax... for 5 minutes or so.  The oxygen was allowing me to finally relax, so I turned on my side to get some sleep which caused Judaen to finally drop into delivery position.  The nurse came back quickly because she had lost his heart rate again and stated that when I turned on my side it allowed him to drop further and we were ready to PUSH.   Ryan's parents had just left to get him some lunch so we had to call them and get Dr. McCarty back over and our little man was here shortly after.

Big Brother was super stoked about the new little guy and is such a good helper for mommy and daddy.  Still today he absolutely adores his little brother and Judaen adores him!

God has definately given us so much to be thankful for!
